At
TRA-Mage, our snow brackets or snow guards are engineered from
the fail point of the roof system. Through proper testing and
research, we have developed unique engineered charts. These
charts calculate the number of snow brackets or snow guards
required and their correct distribution as provided in a roofing
square layout based on the roof surface type, sheathing type
and thickness, snow load, and roof slope.

Bracket A&B Technical Guide
Tile
Roof Accessories (TRA-Mage) Snow Brackets A and B have been
engineered for use with concrete tiles which are installed using
horizontal battens. Horizontal batten should be nailed on 12"
centers through sheathing with minimum 8d galvanized nails.
For double batten systems, horizontal batten should be a minimum
1 x 4 nailed with a minimum of two 10d galvanized nails over
every vertical batten. Vertical batten spacing horizontally
is not to exceed 16". For live loads over 110 lbs per square
foot please refer to page 3-4 of the R.T.I. Cold Roof Manual.
Custom snow bracket lengths are available.
For optimum assurance that snow and ice will not slide, always
use the snow load/slope chart to determine number of snow brackets
per roof square of tile. Snow loads vary by area. Check with
the local building department to verify snow load for your area.
TRA-Mage Snow Brackets can be installed on existing or new construction.
INSTALLATION
After tile has been installed on deck, with lug over horizontal
batten, secure spike into batten by pulling down on triangular
piece, being careful not to damage underlayment with spike piece
at uphill end. The flat piece of the bracket should lay flat
on underlayment at the upslope end. On double batten system
the brackets should hook the tile and the horizontal batten.
Snow Brackets should always be doubled at the eave course.
